Turnbull Hill Lawyers is one of the Hunter’s leading law firms. They are seeking a full-time Career Legal Clerk/Paralegal who shares their passion and commitment for Wills & Estates law to join their talented team.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, highly organised professional who can communicate confidently and professionally with clients and colleagues.

You will be comfortable working as part of a team and running your own matters under the supervision of two of our Partners who practice in this area.  Ideally you will already be working at this senior level, but this could also be an opportunity for a Senior Secretary to take the next step in their career.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering detailed and complex wills, power of attorney, trust, and estate administration services to the team and the firm’s clients.
  • The preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardian documents, correspondence and reporting letters independently with minimal supervision.
  • Administration of estates with minimal supervision.
  • Following up with clients for outstanding information coordinating the flow of documents between clients and the office.
  • Day-to-day management of files including communications with clients, other stakeholders and the Court as directed by a lawyer.
  • Keeping the lawyers informed of client-related issues which may come to your attention.
  • Completing or overseeing administration tasks, including file openings, scanning and billing.
  • Scheduling client meetings, acting as a witness to client documents, and communicating with the Supreme Court concerning ongoing matters.
  • Reviewing your work for quality, accuracy and relevance.
  • Staying abreast of changes in wills and estates law and Supreme Court procedures.
  • Effectively using software such as Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook and Affinity (or other legal practice management software).
  • Exceptional eye for detail which extends to producing high quality work.
  • Assisting in supervising, training and developing other legal administration staff and junior lawyers.
  • Overseeing and entering wills and estate documents into safe custody both electronically and physically in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintaining a positive rapport with the legal team, office staff and clients

Note: A recognised paralegal diploma or associate degree in law is desirable but not necessary.
